After months of anticipation, the winner in the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson has been declared, with the YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul being named victorious in a unanimous decision.

The two boxers finally went head-to-head at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas today, four months after their fight had originally been scheduled to take place.

The pair were first meant to fight in July, but the bout got postponed after Tyson experienced a flare-up of an ulcer.

But the 58-year-old boxer has since recovered and got himself fighting fit, ready to take on the former YouTuber who’s 31 years his junior.

The eight round fight went the distance and was scored 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favour of the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

It might have been the first time the pair actually met in the ring, but tonight’s bout was far from the first time Tyson and Paul have attacked one another.

In fact, Tyson even went as far as to slap Paul in the final face-off prior to their boxing match on November 14.

The slap came after Tyson and Paul conducted their weigh in, with Paul coming in at 227.2lb while Tyson came in at 228.4lb.

The pair then came face-to-face, and Tyson slapped Paul before security were able to step in.

After seemingly getting a taste of what was in store, Paul claimed he ‘didn’t even feel’ the slap.

“He’s an angry little elf,” Paul said. “Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked the f*** out. I’m f***ing him up.

“He hits like a b***, it’s personal now, he must die!”

Big words, to say the least.

Tyson thankfully did not die during the bout, even with the high stakes of it being his first professional fight since 2005.

The renowned boxer spoke confidently ahead of the fight, claiming Paul was ‘in a lot of trouble’.

“He can say whatever he wants. In the ring is where the party begins and he’s finally going to party with the big boys,” he said.

Paul’s record prior to his fight with Tyson was 10-1, including seven knockouts. His loss came in early 2023, when he was defeated by Tyson Fury’s half-brother, Tommy Fury.

However, the former YouTuber remained determined to beat Tyson, saying: “I fear no man. I want him to be that old savage Mike.

“He says he’s going to kill me, is that what you’re going to do?… I want there to be no excuses when I knock him out.”

If you’re tuned in to Netflix and streaming Paul vs Tyson, then you’ll have heard Jake Paul claiming he could be the fastest boxer to become a world champion… but how much truth is there to that statement?

Well, if he wins tonight then that dreamland statement could actually become reality – which sounds crazy when you think his professional debut came just four years ago against a YouTuber.

Only two years before then he stepped in the ring for the very first time in a white-collar boxing match against KSI’s brother Deji Olatunji – again, also a YouTuber.

He’s come a long way since then and is now fighting professional boxers, and of course Mike Tyson – the former two-time champion of the world.

Paul said: “I’m going to become a world champion way faster than people are expecting.”

But it is the current cruiserweight world champion Noel Mikaelian who has offered him the chance.

Speaking to The Sun earlier this year before the initial Paul vs Tyson fight was postponed, Mikaelian said: “I watched him against Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia last year and I expected much more.

“I thought he would bring a bigger crowd and that would be much more of a star. But it wasn’t as huge as I thought.

“But looking forward to next year, if he wants to fight for a world championship, it will be quite difficult. He has to first beat somebody in the top 15 to get ranked. And then – he’s got to give me that Hawk Tuah and spit on that thing – then I’d do a voluntary defence against him.

Adding: “I would play around with him and enjoy it and it would be very lucrative for me too. So I would embrace that if he wants to fight for a title.”

It was only last year that Mikaelian gained his belt, taking on Ilunga Makabu and stopping him in the third round.

The Armenian continued: “It could be dangerous, of course. He can get knocked out, it can happen to any fighter,” he added. “But he doesn’t have the experience to obviously fight somebody like me or any other champion in the cruiserweight division or Canelo [Alvarez] or something.

“That would be like, I don’t want to say suicide, but it will be it could be dangerous. Boxing is a dangerous sport, an average 15 people die a year from boxing matches. So many concussions, brain injuries. So boxing is definitely a dangerous sport and it could be dangerous for anyone.”

So there you have it Paul, beat Tyson and you could actually set up a world champion fight next year.
