A well-planned course of events was meant to be followed by Elena’s life. She had been in love with Ethan for many years, and now that she was engaged to him, she was filled with hopes of their future together. It was planned that the wedding would be a lavish event, a moment that would serve as a milestone in the beginning of their happily ever after. However, everything changed when she discovered that she was expecting a child.

Elena’s reaction to the news three months previously had been one of utter elation. The prospect of her and Ethan becoming parents filled her with a sense of anticipation that caused her heart to burst with delight. On the other hand, when she told him, he did not react with the excitement that she had anticipated. Ethan’s face turned pale as he gazed at her as if she had just revealed a potentially devastating information. What followed was a series of words that cut her more deeply than she could have ever imagined.

“I am unable to fulfill this obligation,” Ethan stated in a tone that was aloof, as if her pregnancy was a burden that he was unable to endure. It’s not yet time for me to become a parent.

And just like that, without uttering a single word or even making an effort to justify his actions, Ethan made his exit from her life. Elena was rendered speechless, heartbroken, and broken as a result of his absence. All of her attempts to get in touch with him, including calling, texting, and other methods, were met with silence.

He sneered at her and said, “It appears that someone is going to be a single mother.” He was pointing in her direction. “Maybe a small raise will help with that.” The atmosphere in the room was filled with his sarcastic tone, and Elena’s heart sank. It seemed as if her pregnancy was something that should be ridiculed, and she felt ashamed and humiliated by it.

This man’s statements carried an intolerable amount of weight. Elena struggled to keep her tears from falling, but the door to the conference room opened just as she was at the point where she could gather her composure. Her father and Rebecca entered the room, accompanied by Lila, who had formerly worked as Rebecca’s assistant. There was a baby that Lila was holding in her arms.

There was complete silence in the room. There was a distinct sense of anxiety as Elena attempted to make sense of what was taking place. The children’s father, who is typically composed and unruffled, took the initiative and instructed everyone to remain seated. As Elena came to the realization that this was not merely a chance encounter, her stomach began to churn. It was something much more significant.

The silence was broken off by Rebecca’s voice. The words that she spoke were laden with anguish as she stated, “Adam is not just a liar and a cheater.” “He is the father of Lila’s child, and he is also the father of Elena’s baby,” explained the speaker.

Elena was aware of a movement in the ground beneath her. Although her heart was pounding in her chest, her thoughts was racing. What made this a possibility? She was having a hard time believing what she was hearing. Adam, the man in whom she had placed her trust, had behaved in a manner that was beyond her comprehension. Her entire life had just come crashing down, and she got the sensation that she was being brutally dismembered in front of everyone.

In an attempt to conceal his disbelief, Adam stutteringly spoke. He made an attempt to explain it by saying, “This is all—this is all a mistake,” but his words were ineffective. It was impossible to provide an explanation that could repair the damage that he had caused.

The voice of their father was heard clearly amidst the mayhem. “Adam, you have been terminated. Following the actions that you have taken, you have no place in this organization. It was impossible to argue with him because of the finality in his voice. With sadness visible in his eyes, he shifted his attention to Elena. Eleanor, I will see to it that both of the children are well taken care of. It is not going to be just you in this.”

Rebecca took a step forward, her expression ranging from one of grief to one of determination. Elena, she whispered to her sister, “I don’t blame you.” She then wrapped her arms around her sister deeply. We are going to prevail over this. You are not the only one. We are going to rebuild together.”

The tears that Elena had been suppressing for so long suddenly came out. In spite of the painful betrayal, she was unable to believe the sympathy that she was receiving from her family. But it was not all that was to follow.

After some time had passed, Elena finally admitted to Rebecca the whole truth in a moment of silence later that day. She mumbled beneath her breath, “It wasn’t supposed to happen this way,” and her voice was shaking. During the Christmas party, I could not help but believe that Ethan was the father. Both of us were able to persuade ourselves of it, but Adam was the truth. Indeed, that was a blunder.”

There was a look of compassion in Rebecca’s eyes, but she did not hold Elena responsible. The assurance that she gave her was, “It’s not your fault, Elena.” “You were led astray, and Adam betrayed each and every one of us.”

Elena was presented with an opportunity that she had never anticipated receiving from their father in the days that followed: the job of interim director to take Adam’s place. In spite of everything, he wanted to demonstrate to Elena that he had faith in her, and this was a chance for him to demonstrate his everlasting support for her.
