Kind Stranger Sees Soaked Dog by the Water and Finds a Heavy Chain Around His Neck
On a quiet Friday afternoon in Lithuania, Audra Petraškienė was driving down a familiar road near the river that winds through her town.
It was a route she had traveled many times before, never expecting to see anything unusual. But that day, her journey was interrupted when she noticed movement on the roadside.
Slowing down, she spotted a dog — dripping wet, shivering violently, and standing alone as if waiting for someone to notice him.
A Shocking Discovery by the River
At first, it seemed as though the pup might have simply wandered into the water by accident. Yet something about the way he stood, frozen in place, told Audra there was more to the story.
She stepped out of her car and walked closer. That’s when she saw it — a heavy piece of metal fastened tightly around his fragile neck.

The truth hit her instantly. This was not an accident. Someone had tied the weight to the dog and thrown him into the river, fully intending for him to drown. The thought was horrifying. Just moments earlier, the animal must have been struggling beneath the surface, fighting desperately against the current and the metal dragging him down.
Now, against every odd, he had pulled himself free. He stood there exhausted, too weak to move, but alive.
A Battle Against Cruelty
Audra didn’t hesitate. She approached the frightened pup carefully, her heart breaking at the sight of his trembling body.
His eyes, wide and pleading, told the story of his ordeal. She reached for him gently, whispering soft words to help calm him.
Wanting others to understand the severity of what had happened, she captured a short video — not for fame, but so the truth could not be denied.

Her daughter, Andra, later explained how fragile the dog had been in those first moments.
He was weak, frightened, and still weighed down by the cruel trap around his neck. No one could say exactly how long he had been in the water, only that he had somehow managed to survive what should have been impossible.
For a small, defenseless animal to escape drowning with a heavy object pulling him under, it was nothing short of a miracle.
Andra described him as a fighter, and she was right. His body may have been battered by cold, but his will to live had not been broken.
