Quick to act, the rescuer contacted a local animal shelter for assistance. The shelter promptly took Ellie to a veterinary clinic for further examination, where a CT scan was scheduled to ascertain the cause of her paralysis.
“Since we couldn’t determine why she was unable to walk, we decided to conduct a CT scan at the Vet Clinic,” explained a member of the shelter staff. The dog was then named Ellie.
The man who found Ellie was moved by the experience, expressing his emotions by saying, “I can think of a thousand reasons why I love animals, but saving Ellie touched me deeply. When I hugged and kissed her, she started to cry.”

For Ellie, this was a new experience of being cared for and loved. Five days following her rescue, the CT scan results revealed that her condition wasn’t due to a car accident, as initially suspected.
Instead, Ellie had likely been struck by a hard object, like a bat, causing spinal compression that led to her paralysis. This insight provided clarity on her fear of broom-like objects.
Ellie was prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and started receiving physiotherapy sessions with hopes of regaining her ability to walk. Just 15 days later, Ellie’s progress was remarkable; she took her first steps towards recovery.
