Truck tips over causing power outage in southern Sydney

Multiple homes have been left without power for hours after a truck rolled down an embankment and came to rest in an almost vertical position.

The truck had been loading a full skip bin on Wigens Ave in Como, southern Sydney, when it rolled backwards and tipped over about 1.50pm on Friday.

A photo shared by police shows the truck leaning against the embankment with its undercarriage and tyres clearly visible.

Emergency services secured the vehicle to prevent damage to nearby houses.

One person suffered a minor injury but didn’t need to go to hospital.

Houses on several streets — including Wigens Ave, Bonnet Ave, Keele St and Woronora Cres — lost power while the truck was being removed.

Supply was restored by 10pm the same day.

Locals reacted online with lighthearted jokes and references to viral videos.

“You can’t park there mate,” one comment read.

“Waiting for a mate,” another added.
