“NEW: Rep. Aundré Bumgardner (D) was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and recklessly in Groton, Connecticut. Bumgardner, 30, informed officers that he had ‘struck something’ in the road while returning from an ‘event’ with constituents,” read a viral post on X. “His wife was asleep in the backseat of the vehicle.”

Authorities reported that the individual’s vehicle was observed with a front tire that was “barely staying on the rim.” Officers remarked that his eyes appeared “red and glossy,” and there was a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath, as stated in the report. One commenter expressed outrage, stating, “This is not someone who should hold a leadership position! If he is this negligent, can you imagine the level of carelessness in his official duties?”

Another user recounted, “He was with the police, complaining about not having his bipolar medication, claiming he has ADHD. He felt the officer’s camera was intrusive, threatened to file a lawsuit, and requested a blood test, ultimately registering twice the legal limit. His mother came to pick him up, while his wife was passed out in the back seat, completely oblivious during the stop.” A different commenter remarked, “It’s 2025, and people are still engaging in this kind of behavior. There is no justification for it.”

Another disgrace!” one individual expressed their disapproval. “Why can’t Democrats use Uber like the rest of us?” another commenter questioned.
