Letitia James Loses It Over Trump’s Latest Move During Unhinged Press Conference

New York Attorney General Letitia James is responding poorly to President Donald Trump’s recent counteroffensive. After years of pursuing legal action against the former president, she now finds herself facing a significant setback that has left her visibly upset during a press conference.

In a fervent address to the media, James expressed her outrage over the Trump administration’s decision to suspend financial support to New York, labeling it as “unacceptable, unconstitutional, and excessively biased. They have overstepped their authority.”

“It is crucial for Attorneys General representing our states to uphold and enforce the rule of law. The Treasury and the President of the United States are not above the law,” James asserted.

For someone who once envisioned herself as the individual to bring Trump to justice, this situation serves as a harsh wake-up call. Not only has she been unable to politically marginalize him, but she is now also facing her own legal challenges.

Just two days prior, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the Department of Justice is pursuing charges against New York State, Governor Kathy Hochul, James, and DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder for their failure to enforce immigration laws. This lawsuit specifically targets New York’s contentious sanctuary policies.

Bondi emphasized that the DOJ is focused on ensuring the safety of American citizens and holding state officials accountable for violating federal law.

James’ outburst occurs just before a significant court hearing scheduled for Friday, where state attorneys general will seek to prevent Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency from accessing Treasury Department records. With increasing pressure from various fronts, James seems to be struggling to maintain control over her legal challenges.

Attorneys general from 18 states have initiated a lawsuit against the Trump administration, targeting Musk and DOGE for access to personal data. This lawsuit, led by James and Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, was filed in federal court in Washington, D.C., on February.

It is claimed that DOGE, operating under Musk’s leadership, unlawfully accessed the central payment system of the Treasury Department, thereby compromising the private information of American citizens. The attorneys general contend that such actions should be reserved for a government official who has been duly nominated and confirmed by the Senate, referencing constitutional protections that restrict the authority of both Congress and the president.

During a press conference on Friday, Attorney General James strongly condemned Musk’s conduct.

“Elon was not elected by the populace,” James stated, as reported by AMNY. “The American people deserve better. We will repeatedly take our stand in court. The American people will not relent.”

On the same day, U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas in Manhattan ruled to uphold a temporary restraining order against Musk’s initiative aimed at reducing government costs, as reported by Reuters. This order prevents access to essential Treasury Department systems that manage trillions of dollars in payments.

During the proceedings, Judge Vargas did not reach a conclusive decision regarding the request from 19 Democratic state attorneys general who are advocating for a more extended preliminary injunction to prevent DOGE from gaining access. The temporary order, which was first established the previous Saturday, remains in effect.
